Aggregation in Macroeconomic Models: An Empirical Input-Output Approach

چکیده

The aggregation level of industries in the Danish macroeconomic model ADAM is examined using a new indicator of aggregation bias. The indicator is decomposed into contributions from the original industries, thereby clearly identifying the aggregation problems which caused the 6 industry groups of the older versions of ADAM to be disaggregated into the current 19 groups. An aggregation key minimizing the new bias indicator is found: From the microlevel of 64 industries, 18 "optimal" industry groups are formed through "clustering"; these groups are very similar to the current ADAM groups. Altogether, the conclusions based on the new indicator closely resemble those reached through years of practical experience. JEL classification: D57.

Modelling the Heterogeneous Price Setting Behavior of Firms (DSGE Approach)

Despite the empirical evidence of the difference in the degree of price stickiness of goods and services, in the new standard Keynesian models, the same price stickiness is considered for all firms producing intermediate goods. In recent years, a new generation of pricing models has been introduced to simulate the heterogeneous price setting behavior in which, unlike standard pricing models, th...

Comparative Analysis of Sectoral Multipliers of Input-Output Model and Social Accounting Matrix

The present study is to indicate that the comparison between sectoral production multipliers of an input-output (I/O) model and a social accounting matrix (SAM) framework is almost impossible without taking into account accounting balances and theoretical considerations. Theoretically, the I/O model provides the Leontief’s production function, on the basis of which sectoral output multiplier ca...

Properties of fuzzy relations and aggregation process in decision making

In this contribution connections between input fuzzy relations R1, . . . ,Rn on a set X and the output fuzzy relationRF = F(R1, . . . ,Rn) are studied. F is a function of the form F : [0, 1]n → [0, 1] and RF is called an aggregated fuzzyrelation. In the literature the problem of preservation, by a function F, diverse types of properties of fuzzy relationsR1, . . . ,Rn is examined. Here, it is c...
